Writing Updates

What’s Coming Next

This week, I will begin blogging updates on my next short story collection: Flesh Party: Five Monstrous Horror Stories. I plan to begin a series of themed short story collections, and this one will include stories surrounding my takes on famous creatures in the horror genre! These stories are considerably darker than those in my first collection (which were more psychologically driven) and will be traditional horror tales.

All stories in the collection have been written, and are in the process of being edited. Editing is planned to be completed by the end of August, with September being reserved for book cover design and publishing planning. I hope to have the book available by Halloween.

Here’s a bit about each story:

A Green Dress in Tatters
This is my take on the traditional haunted house / ghost story. It features Matt, who’s struggling with a recent break up. He’s in the middle of nowhere staying the night at an odd little hotel called The Lodge. Things are fine at first, until he starts seeing things that can’t be real.

Beneath the Skin
This is a little tale about werewolves that hide behind a facade. Warren joins family and friends on a short camping trip that begins normal and ends in chaos as everyone’s real selves become apparent.

Flesh Party
I love this story. It’s a subtle take on the vampire creature, with my own embellishments. This is a WILD story, and I’m excited for people to read it.

Under Thin Ice
I’ve always been infatuated with the idea of lake monsters (probably tied to my passion for fishing). This story has a bit of cosmic horror woven into it as well. It’s the story of a little boy named Liam struggling with the death of his brother by drowning. He’s adamant that something else took Liam under the ice, and he might be right.

A Stitch in Time
This story features a monster of my own creation. Mallory is battling a lung disease that is certain to take her life. She’s haunted by a creature that has taken her past from her, and will take her granddaughter’s future next if she doesn’t find a way to stop it before she dies.

The collection will also end with a sneak preview of my debut novel Id Unshackled. I’ll have more information on this in future updates.

As mentioned, the stories are completed but are going through editing at this time. I’m doing my final sweeps of the stories before I pass them to my editors to do their work.

I’ll share more updates next week, but I’m already growing excited for this collection!
